Yahooooooooooo!

Hi everyone! We have a super exciting announcement to make today about an event that we've been working hard to make happen for quite a while...
GTACM and Georgia Tech are going to be hosting a Yahoo! Hack Week! Officially the Hack Day, they'll be here for a week, which culminates in the "Hack Day" challenge!
You can find more information about a hack week at their website, but here's the quick rundown of important information:
-The event kicks off Friday, Feb. 29th and runs until Fri., March 7th; the 24 hour coding marathon is Thurs. and Fri. March 6-7.
-Rasmus Lerdorf, the founder / creator of PHP, will be on campus all week and a speaker at many of the events!
-There will be all kinds of events and games-pretty much the entire time they are here will be filled with demos, seminars, instruction, games, fun, and other events! Check out the schedule below for detailed info.
-The contest itself centers around mashups and website creation; previous winners and more info are on the Yahoo! website (above).
-Participants are on self-chosen teams of up to 4 people.
-The winning team will receive a Wii for each team member! In addition, they will be able to participate in the national challenge, featuring an all expenses paid trip to Yahoo Headquarters!
-As if the Wii weren't enough, if all of the members on the team were GTACM members by the end of Wednesday (March 5), the winners of the contest will also each receive a new Samsung 7MP camera (with image stabilization and 2.5in LCD) from ACM.

Here's the basic rundown of the schedule:
Friday, February 29: 5:30PM Kickoff event! Moe's burritos! Raffle of an iPod Shuffle and Yahoo swag!

Saturday: 2PM Kickoff follow up--demos, code of past participants, idea generation.

Thursday: 11-1PM-*Meet the Dev's* Luncheon-come out and meet the yahoo developers, and get to talk to them in a relaxed, social atmosphere-free pizza

Thursday: 4PM: Start the 24 hour marathon!

Friday: 4PM: Conclusion, presentations, award ceremony.

*We'll be getting more details and room numbers out as that information becomes available.*

Thanks everyone! Hope to see you there! This is really exciting; even if you don't participate in the contest, there's something for everyone to learn and experience at the events. Take a look at the website, start coming up with ideas, and get excited!
